Traveling with an Eating Disorder, Part 3 of 3
(If you haven’t read Part I, or Part II, I encourage you to start there and come on back when you’re done.) Part I spoke about creating a sense of peace and comfort around the variety and/or constraints of choice that vacationing can provide. In Part I, I provided you with a clear list of tools you can use to ground yourself and come back to basics regardless of what’s on the menu. I have heard from quite a few clients who have carried Part I with them on their travels this summer and have found these simple suggestions extremely helpful in remaining clear on what action to take to feel more at ease than ever before. Now, we get to the emotions. Yes, the aspect of travel that often throws us for a loop. We can be challenged by time zone changes, cultural differences, and our emotional reactions to the people, places and things we experience on our trip. Keep in mind, for you busy beavers who don’t allow yourself a moment of downtime lest you should fill it with food or purging or some self-judgement, that perhaps the strongest emotional reaction you will have on your vacation will be directed towards your own thoughts and feelings as you have more minutes in each day to simply be with yourself and to simply hear what it is you have to say. We’ll come back to that in a bit. |

Food is Not the Problem: Deal With What Is! The Book
The CEDRIC Centre program is expertly wrapped up in this self-help approach to recovering from using food to cope. It's an excellent resource for you or a loved one you know who is struggling with finding freedom from focusing on food. Packed with easy-to-understand clincial explanations and personal stories from Michelle's own experience dealing with an eating disorder, Food is Not the Problem: Deal With What Is!
is the "real deal" when it comes to a complete, compassionate, and authentic approach to helping anyone caught in the maze of binging, purging and restricting. Michelle is keenly aware of the stressors that make these issues very complex, and walks the reader through how to unravel the mystery of their own personal situation and caringly shows them how to put themselves back in control of their lives. Want to know more about Michelle and CEDRIC? On this recorded workshop Q&A call, Michelle talks about her own personal journey of recovery from her food and body image issues, explained how the CEDRIC Centre came about, answers questions (which were varied and very interesting!) about our workshops, and more. Listen to Michelle's caring, compassionate and practical approach to helping people at any age, from anywhere, find a way out of focusing on food to cope. |
